Serendipity
Main Entry: ser·en·dip·i·ty
Pronunciation: -'di-p&-tE
Function: noun
Etymology: from its possession by the heroes of the Persian fairy tale The Three Princes of Serendip
: the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for
(Merriam Webster online)
So, check out that top left corner. How's that for an agreeable thing not sought for? You can't see it well in this small picture, but live! Oh my! It looks like a picture - blue cloudy sky all the way down to the summer grass. This is the center part of the quilt for Christy. It's grab and go sewing, pick one, sew it to another. My original, not fully thought out plan was to make all the black/bright HSTs I need, then assemble and be done. Except sometimes those HSTs need to be sewn to other HSTs, not black. Oops. So much for easy. A migraine makes getting one's head around complex calculations like what comes after 4 difficult, so I thought "to hell with the plan" I'll build this out in borders. Today, I did the medallion, tomorrow maybe the next ring which will complete the Carpenter's Wheel portion of our show. Build that up with another ring, then a zig zag row at the top and bottom. It sounds so... easy when I see it written down. ;o)
