251 Club

(Starksboro at left)

There's a "club" here in the Green Mountain State called the 251 Club. Members have visited all 251 incorporated towns and cities in the state of Vermont. If gas was cheaper, it'd make a pretty interesting vacation, and just think of it! 251 charming little New England towns (well, maybe 240 and a handful of duds) with white steepled churches and well tended greens.

You know, just about every town in Vermont does have at least one white steepled church (usually Congregational) and a well tended green. Usually with a bandstand. It really and truly is just like the Christmas cards and Robert Frost would have you believe.

We're going to be members of the 251 Club, someday. We're not even 1/4 way there yet. But we have our list, and we'll cross towns off as we drive through. And maybe we'll stop and enjoy the well tended green and take a picture of the pretty white church.
