The heat wave is over

Or just about. We've had 40s an 50s for most of the last week. Most of the snow is gone, and what remains has been steaming! But, alas, it's about over. There's a cold front blowing in right now, the tempewrature has dropped from 56º this morning to 43º now, heading for 17º overnight. Our high tomorrow is forecast at 21º. It's really okay with me, though. It's winter, it's supposed to be cold. I don't like worrying about my roses and daffodils, they should still be sleeping soundly.

I'm itching to get working on Amanda's tartan quilt, but I have one more commitment left. I test blocks for Marcia at Quilters' Cache and after a 4 month "vacation" I've signed back on. I have a block pattern on my printer waiting for me to get to it. I need to do that before I get to play with the tartans. And I still need to figure out the modifications to the block to give those plaids lots of impact at the size I want. It'll happen, but not today. :o( Tomorrow maybe - we're supposed to have a nasty transition day back to winter - wind, sleet, snow, freezing rain. The kind of weather that practically gets the crockpot out of the cupboard for you. I picked up a pot roast at the grocery store this morning, so dinner tomorrow's covered anyway. I could just slack off and make Sunday the day of rest my mother always insisted on. No laundry, no vacuuming, no cleaning bathrooms or changing sheets - sounds like a plan. Hopefully by Monday morning I'll have a small stack of blocks to show the direction I'm heading.

No plaids from me yet? hmm. I mailed them on Friday, the 6th first class. You would think they could get there in a week. Nancy's is already in North Dakota (but that was by priority). Well, hmmph again.

Nope, still nothing. It is odd, I've never had things, even toor from California, take longer than a week. Bet they're in the box on Tuesday. Can't wai to see them!
