I've been slowly getting the hand quilting on my Christmas quilt done. It's a Nesting Robin (the rounds have a "theme" but the quilt never leaves home) done my way - I pieced a simple top and the quilting is my translation of the theme. Every 5 weeks(?) Anna gave us a new song title and we interpreted that song in our round (or row, for those who went that route.) Stardust, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Rainbow Connection, Annie's Song, The River. The quilting I'm working on now is pine boughs (kinda sorta) as my interpretation of Annie's Song. I've always thought the line "You fill up my senses like a night in the forest" was wonderfully descriptive. And pine boughs were easily do-able, kind of feathers with needles, so there you go. The quilting (in the second red border) isn't real obvious, but I'm a little over halfway done. Two sides, plus a start on the third.
I spread the quilt out on the floor in a sunny spot and turned off the camera flash to capture a little of the shadowing the quilting does. Of course I might as well have sprinkled cat crack, er, catnip all over the floor since I immediately had a 20 pound weight keeping any stray gusts of wind from carrying off my treasure. Thanks Goldie. The quilt, from the edge of the green border to the other edge is 34." Yes, he's big. And fat, though not nearly as big nor as fat as Bean. He's a tub. o'lard. He holds down the couch!
