Lost and Found

Another of the side effects of yesterday's adventure, in addition to the sparkling floor, is three cut fingertips. I guess picking up glass I sliced the tips of three of the fingers on my right hand. The pointer and ring fingers were spared, but my thumb, baby and middle finger are all sporting shiny red cuts. Liquid bandage is keeping them clean and dry, but my oh my do they hurt. I REALLY wanted to quilt last night but couldn't. My pusher finger stung too much to quilt naked, and my Roxanne thimble's been on an extended tour of *somewhere.* I hadn't seen it months.

This morning Daniel and I trotted off to Knits and Bolts (great name, eh?) to see what they had in the way of rigid thimbles. I have a leather one that works pretty well, but it's not closed and the exposed tip of my finger is just begging for a stab. They had nothing. :o( So, I thought, I'll knit instead. I wandered around, and around, and around. Funny, yarn does not scream out for my companionship like fabric does - nothing was begging to come home with me. It was all luscious, and I did finally settle on a couple of skeins of Plymouth Suri Merino. I'll have to go through my patterns to see what I can make with it. Since all Suri they had in this colour was the same dye lot, I can grab more if I need it.

Driving home I suddenly realized where my thimble's been hiding. I have a basket of mending that sits next to my sewing machine, and sure enough, there it was under Simon's size 10 shorts. It's January, and he's a size 16 - that thimble's been gone a LONG time.

So tonight I can quilt, OR I can knit. Or I can eat popcorn and watch tv. Decisions, decisions.

If you opt for the popcorn, watch out for the salt! Ouch!

I've done the same thing and, of course, it only happens when you want to sew or quilt. Glad you found your thimble. Aloha!
