It's a beautiful day in my neighbourhood

It's a gorgeous day, the sun is shining. No riz grass or singin' boydees yet, but it's beautiful nonetheless. I went for a short walk, and was disappointed to see not a sign of life in my garden. No hopeful shoots poking through the mulch, not even bubbles in the vernal pools yet, which means, sigh, the ground is still well and solidly frozen. By this time next month, though, spring should be popping up everywhere.

Despite the warm again cold again winter we had, the lilac and roses all have tight little bud promises up the stems, and the bunnies didn't feast on my Flowering Almond, so that's good.

I spent this morning sewing. I've got one of the two test blocks for Marcia done, it's cute, but not one I'd make again. I've promised my test blocks to Denise and Ellen and Linda in Arizona who sew them up to make quilts for Sojourner Center. I've pledged to make their work easier by sticking with a Red White and Blue colour scheme this year. I'll surely try, ladies, I'll surely try. I think I'll try to get #2 done today too, and then set to work on the 8 crazy blocks I'll need for Stacy's Row Robin. Once the blocks are sewn I can get started embellishing, and that's always a lot of fun. I've got ribbon, floss, and lace, Tori's got beads I can "borrow." I can't wait to get that red "CURRENT" posted over in my sidebar.

At least you are smart to do your test blocks in the same color scheme. I have a huge amount of blocks that don't match. I should just sew them all together and enter the ugly quilt contest! ;)

Smart NOW, not so smart for the past 3? years. Every January I pack them off to the Arizona Retreat ladies to incorporate into charity quilts. It gets those blocks out of my sight, and helps get warm quilts onto people who need them. (Or maybe they help fill the top of Denise's garbage bags) ;o) I don't ask, they don't tell.
