No free time goes unfilled

Free time? This week? Not for this girl. Rather than actually do anything constructive today (like laundry, cleaning, sewing, SOMETHING) I threw Tori in the car and took her to Burlington to make sure I didn't talk myself out of buying the sewing machine I think I want to buy. Do I *need* a new machine? Nope. Do I *want* a new machine? I didn't think so, but now I think maybe I do. Maybe.

Waiting at the light at the bottom of the exit ramp, I was thrown forward toward the steering wheel when the car behind me thought the light changed. It didn't. My seat belt saved my ribcage, but nothing will help my rear bumper. I got out, she (other driver) got out, we picked my spare tire up off the street and went around the corner to Friendly's to exchange insurance info. "This is so TOTALLY my fault." Uh, yeah, it is. Her Saab 95 grill suffered more than my Pathfinder bumper, though, and she knows she'll be picking up the tab for both. We called the State police, since it technically happened on the interstate, and were advised to pick up an accident form and report it to insurance within 72 hours. Yup.

But damn. Do I have time to get a quote this week? No, I do not. Do I have time to be without a car this week, at all? No, I do not. I don't even know who does bodywork around here. Argh.

Anyway, back to that sewing machine. It's pretty. It's silent. It's a Kenmore branded Janome. It has embroidery stitches and speed control, and needle position and needle up/down, and it's on sale. AND I have a 10% off coupon, good Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday only. I brought some bits of MY fabric to practice on, a layered up quilt sandwich, and a "postcard" with batting and peltex. Not a complaint. From the machine, anyway. But I didn't get to let her fly, because when I put the pedal to the floor, it leaped into a crawl. And stayed there. Foot off, crawl. Foot on, stop. Foot off, crawl again. Speed control "turtle" - crawl. Speed control "rabbit" - crawl. Well, that's not right. No one could make it stop without turning off the power (I suspect it was stuck in some sort of demonstrator mode with no one around who knew how to undo it.) Scott has a dentist appointment on Tuesday, maybe I'll take the opportunity to get all my Wednesday stuff done while he's gone, then run up again on Wednesday to see it work properly. And bring my coupon.

Thanks for the opinion on my blog. Sometimes I just don't trust myself, lol.

Glad you aren't hurt, you may think differently in the morning, have the ibuprophen handy!

Bit of a stiff neck this morning, but that could be from anything, really. Maybe I'll take an Advil anyway, just so it doesn't tighten up more. Thanks for the kind thoughts.

How'd the scale do this week?

I promise, the kids will grow-up and you STILL will wonder how you got it all done "back then"!

Scale was only down .5, but with the monthly visitor(or every three weeks, lol), it will set me up nicely for next week!

And you?
