Ain't it always the way?

Since I don't think Denise reads this, I'll reveal my Row for her Robin before it's done. Perhaps WAY before it's completely done. More in a sec...

Denise sent the beautiful plum blossom row, it arrived at the beginning of April. My immediate thought was of pineapple blocks, or origami, but I just couldn't "see" it. Never one to let a small detail like not knowing where I'm headed stop me, I plunged in, and printed a pineapple template. And a couple of origami cranes. And fans. I chose that lovely butter yellow for the crane background, actually, and thought I'd use it in the pineapples too - constancy is a good thing. I got one pineapple done(ish) and trimmed it to exactly 8". Seam allowance? We don't need no stinkin' seam allowance. Oops, yes we do. So I took off (and changed actually) the outside round and liked the result. Laying it next to the first row, it was perfect in the #3 position. Would a crane or fan look good in #2, #1? No! Ack! So I made another pineapple in the dark sky colours, the yellow looks like moonbeams. Ahhh, there we go, they could ALL be pineapples! Sew up a third block, then a fourth, things are going GREAT! Uh, oh. This yellow is NOT going to hold out for all 6 blocks. I have enough Patrick Lose Marble Mania (colourway papaya) to make one(1) more block. I need two(2.) I called the three local-ish shops and one definitely does NOT have it, one has some MMs in "some sort of yellow," and the third had no idea what I was talking about. Huh? Whatever. I've put out the call, and I can find it online so I will finish this row. If I can't find it fast, though, the row will be sent on one block short, and it'll play catch-up. I'm not worried. Well, not about this. I *am* worried about the next quilt I'll be getting shortly. 30s I think. Hmmm.. not really my comfort zone. I guess I'll see it when it gets here. Maybe I can do pineapples. ;o)

HA! (oops) update

I just found almost 1/2 yard of this in my own stash. Oopsie. I've even called and (hopefully) cancelled my order with Quiltaway. :o( sniff
