Missed photo op

I used to always keep a camera in the car, either film or digital, and somehow I've got out of that habit. Too bad, actually, there are moments just about every trip that I'd like to immortalize. Today's was priceless, I am sure the moment will never again present itself.

Just as we were waiting for an opportunity to pull out of a parking lot, I noticed a motorcycle filling up at the station across the road. Nothing exceptional about that, except, the guy at the pump looked like Father Time. He must have been 80 at least, with a long white beard and shaggy snow white eyebrows. I noticed the eyebrows because he was wearing one of those old leather aviator "helmets" (you know the kind whose purpose is more containment than actual head protection.) Surprisingly, though, it wasn't the old dude that caught my attention, but rather his sidecar passenger - a big golden Chow with his tongue down to his chest, a HUGE dog grin on his face. New Jersey plates on the bike, so it's unlikely we'll ever see them again. Too bad, they made me laugh out loud.

I've lent my old digital camera to someone. When it comes home, I think I'll designate it my car camera, just so I don't miss anymore once-in-a-lifetime shots.
