Hey, good news all 'round!
The mat's mostly flat, the hair's mostly not and the thing on my back is only as serious as a nasty infections. Doctor today opened it up, cleaned it out, but left the sebaceous cyst that started (and will continue to cause) all this trouble. Big gauzy dressing, a week's worth of antibiotics, and I'll be leaning back in my chair in no time. ;o)

Glad the cyst thing is okay! I've had many of those sebaceous cyst things over the years and when they decide to explode, it's Ugly with a capital U!
