The next four

Pigley reminded me a week or so ago, that No, I'm not done when I finish my Next Four List. Since the end of that list is in sight, I guess I need to start thinking about the next Next Four.

#1 Continues to be block commitments. Right now I have Anna's, then Joy's, then mine comes home. I'll leave the finishing of that one a little bit - it won't be here until September, and it's a bit of a summer fling. I WILL have it done for next summer, though. The finish is easy, and I think it'll suit the character of the piece. Tied, not quilted - I can work on it when it's c-c-cold out. Anna's row will be baskets, 8 1/2" finished so that on-point they'll be 12" The roses will be bold - red, maroon, gold maybe, in lighter coloured baskets.

#2 Should be the string quilt for me, but it won't be. I've agreed to make a baby quilt for one of Tori's teachers, and it really should be done first. At least the top, anyway. This is what I have. See my instructions on top of the pile? See instruction #1? Apparently only one of the students who signed these blocks did. There won't be time in September to have the blocks re-done, so I'm going to scan them, reduce them 20% or so, and copy the too big designs onto new strips. I *could* assemble them into the quilt as they are, but the sincere good wishes of many, and the signatures of most of the kids would be trapped in the seam allowance. I have to fix it if I can.

#3 Now it's my turn. My String Quilt comes next.

#4 Hmmm... I think it's time I put together the neutral quilt I started for my brother and his (now ex-) wife's wedding gift way too many years ago. I'm pretty sure it moved here with us in the same grocery bag it's still in. It's pretty mindless sewing - maybe I should slip it in as a leader/ender project. I wonder what I could do with it? I don't know if it's big enough for our bed - maybe it could become a pieced background for an applique something or other? Yeah, right.

That neutral quilt might be the perfect foil for a crazy quilt! Got beads?

Love the rose! How about fusing the kids blocks and using clear thread to sew them down???

Crazy quilt? Nah, it's all squares - crazy needs to START crazy. I have an idea, but it's still percolating.

And Vicky, I can't fuse the kids blocks, it seems some of them could not only not read the FIRST rule, they couldn't read the rest of them either. a bunch are done in highlighter (!) and one even has what appears to be nail polish. Sigh... "I do and I do and I do for you kids..." ;o) I've got 5 of them copied already, and there's less than 20, so I'm not worried. It's going faster than I feared.

Sorry I missed Bastille Day. I was in Denver for a 10 day vacation. Had to return to NYC for some rest(!).
I vistited my stash while there and brought back a suitcase full of fabric. Reading this blog has got me thinking about quilting again. Thanks!
