Oh Joy

heh, me and 30s, we don't go so much. But that's okay, I can do this. This is Joy's Row Robin quilt. I'm its last stop before home. Being last, I feel like it's my job to create something with this - to cohere the various and sundry and make it look like we all schemed and plotted to create a single work of art. Or at least something that don't stink too bad.

Everyone else has done beautiful work - I suspect most people like 30s repros more than I do. I have to assemble Denise's row, she's done all the work but the finishing and life has served her up a REAL full plate, so I suggested she send it to me to finish. And she did. :o)

Laying out all the rows, I immediately see that the block I choose, whatever it is, needs to complete that 9-patch HST on the corner thing that the top row has going. I can do that! Keeping the 30s theme will limit my choices further (good! good!), now all I have to do is figure out what to do, and I'll be all set. Except for the doing, but really, that's the easy part. It's the thinking that's hard! Ah, poop. I think I'd best measure to make sure those really are 9-patch based HSTs. 6 blocks across, 48" width, that means those are 8" blocks. 1/3 of 8 is... 2 2/3" poopity-poop poop. Maybe I'll run some corner pieces past Denise for her butterfly row, then I can do whatever I want! Hey, sounds like a GREAT plan!

If you switch my basket row down and Denise's butterflies row up to where mine are you'll get alternating rows of corner hsts and then a plain row. That leaves a plain row of your choice of whichever block you want to do.How do you feel about just appliqueing some flowers lying on their side helter skelter? Maybe tulips which are easy and curved stems and a couple leaves?

I've been sorry I didn't join in this RR with you and the gang.

Have you seen your's progressing, and do you have a link?

I'd be open to doing another Row Robin, after the new year, I think. I stuck a webshots link to the album in my sidebar (top of the LINKS section) Mine's the last one on page 2.
