On the third day of Christmas, my own sweet self made for me (for my aunt actually)
Three feet of knitting
Two bags of trash
and a headlamp so I can see!
I've knit all of this since Christmas - that headlamp is a winner! The pattern, like mom's from earlier this year, and Tori's earlier still, is Susan Lawrence's Branching Out Scarf from Knitty.com and I love it! Pretty green - it's variegated from aqua through every shade of green to yellow - it looks like spring! That's 160 rows, I think I'll assess the length when I get to 200 (tomorrow?)

Looks soft! (I'm out of 12 Days)
That is really beautiful! I definitely need to learn how to knit...
That looks wonderful. If I get a headlight, will it make me that productive ? All the knitting on this ring is inspiring me to learn.
I know this is an old post..but I just started doing one the Branching Out scarves...a bit ambitious for an 'up to now garter stitch only' knitter who has NO real clue how to read knitting patterns...but...I figured if I wanted to learn to read the dang knitting patterns and actually do some of the different stitches, I would do better on something I liked...and I remembered you did this one (had to search for it though)...I am only to a measley row 5 on the lace pattern...and I am NOT at all sure I am doing things right (I knit continental I guess..not a 'thrower') so some of the stitches I am guessing at after watching some YouTube demos...I really should go to the LYS (it's an LQS too) and get a lesson... maybe after the holidays.
Here's a question for you - How long before the pattern actually started looking like lace? If its not starting to look like it now and it should..I guess I probably need to frog it and start over...
Suze, I guess this will work to get back in touch with you (I don't have your email) I've posted this in my comments, but if you don't have email notification turned on, how will you know? So I've posted it to your last blog entry as well.
In any case - that knitting. Don't frog yet. It takes at least 2 (3, 4) pattern repeats before you can see what you're doing. With lighter weight yarn, it really doen't become obvious until you're pretty well into it, but have faith. Keep going, I'm sure you're doing it right.
