On the Tenth Day

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me

Ten happy piggies, Nine watery hours, Eight affirmations, Seven empty dishes, Six hours of snow, Five o'clock! Four good ideas, Three feet of knitting, Two bags of trash, and a headlamp so I can see!

(this is getting hard!)

Now, funny thing about that little vanity shot. I am SO not a vain person. I have taken my kids to school in my bathrobe, I only own 6 pairs of shoes (including only ONE pair of sandals) and have to remind myself to brush my hair most days. But I love painted toenails. I don't tend to paint them in the winter, don't know why, since I'm usually barefoot, but today I did. Happy piggies! And with that in mind, I need to respond to Christine's comment yesterday. She wrote "now is the time to stop worrying about your weight! You look fine to me.
I think you are too hard on yourself." I'm not hard enough on myself, truth be told. I am fat and young, but old enough to recognize that I want to tread these boards for a very long time, longer than this degree of obesity would probably allow. I'm healthy, now, but I'm playing with fire. I have three children, and I wantt o see their children have children. Losing weight, for me, isn't about vanity, it's like wearing my seatbelt or not smoking - something that I can chose to do as a gift to my future.

I agree with you about the weight. I feel the same way. Love the toes. And I don't brush my hair everyday either.
