Punxsatawney Phil tells us that spring is just around the corner. What he forgot to mention is that it takes at least 2 months to find the right corner.
I like Groundhog Day for my own perverse reason. I like the movie (and wish TBS would play it all day like they do "A Christmas Story") and I like the silly charm of the small town events wherein a giant sleeping guinea pig is dragged from his bed and imbued with the gift of meterological prognostication. I'll take a gopher over Al Roker ANY day. But what I like most about Groundhog Day is just how disgusted (and disgusting) my kids are about dinner. Every year on Feb 2 I make a hearty 2 lb or so meatloaf, and present it, with wide-eyed innocence as groundhog. I mean it is Groundhog Day, right? What else would you serve. Don't people refer to the last Thursday in November as Turkey Day? ::Snort:: This year's beasty had 4 little legs, splayed on the platter. Scott contributed the autopsy carving. Ketchup anyone? Would you like a leg? Tori was revolted. Simon asked if next year he could help, and could we do tire marks, ala roadkill. Sure honey, nothing like bonding over rodent shaped ground beef.
I'm sick. hee!

You know what they say~ The family who bonds over roadkill together stays together.
I made meatloaf tonight but wasn't clever enough to think to call it groundhog. Dang. Maybe next year.
I love it! Now I know what to do next year!
Where...OH WHERE are the pictures????
Yeah, pictures would have been nice. I was baptized on Groundhog Day 1964. Awwww.
That is hilarious! I am told in the south they really eat roadkill, thank God I have never been witness to such things!!
::SNORT::SPLUT::Gasp!!!
Good thing I wasn't chewing something or the screen would be covered...ROFLMAO!!!
I love meatloaf...will have to try to remember to pull this one next year...DH will probably give me an odd look though..too bad the kids are grown!
the roadkill idea is awesome...spread the ketshup around on the plate, then drop the meat-y-loaf into it so it splatters....more roady killy effect!
