House Bill 751

July 1, 2005 statute attached to Virginia's Affirmation of Marriage Act

"A civil union, partnership contract or other arrangement between persons of the same sex purporting to bestow the privileges or obligations of marriage is prohibited. Any such civil union, partnership contract or other arrangement entered into by persons of the same sex in another state or jurisdiction shall be void in all respects in Virginia and any contractual rights created thereby shall be void and unenforceable."

Today, Mary Cheney became a single parent. Her partner of 15 years remains, legally, the woman that lives in Mary's house.

unspeakably stupid is how I see that. Amen to your entry yesterday. I knew there was a reason I'm really fond of you. You're a thinking woman with deep empathy. I wish everyone would cut out the crap and just try to empathize with their fellow human beings. No religions, nations, genders, sexuality, just human and social dignity. On a humorous note-why shouldn't Mary have the right to be a miserable as the rest of the married people I know?
