Must... write... something...

I'm committed to scribble something every day, so here's the bit for today. It's all I got, sorry.

Growing up, I think half the girls I knew were named Susan. The other half was mostly Carolyns. I did not know a single Penny, A single Jackie, or Donna. I do believe, though, that half the women my age in this little town we moved to are named Jackie (after the tragic Mrs. Kennedy, I assume) and the rest is a melange of various Pennys and Donnas. Regional thing? National thing maybe? I knew several Gordons growing up, but believe I have yet to meet one here. But here, there's Bobby. We had no Bobby. We had Roberts and Bobs, but not one of them went by Bobby.

I wonder if that regional trend is disappearing with the internet and cable tv. The world (well, this end of it) is getting smaller, and smaller. I can't imagine that there are many places in the world with a bank loans officer named Perky. And I'm sure that by the next generation there will be even fewer. I'm glad I got to see it, here in TeenyTinyTown.

ps - to Irene - the pear's still up there.

Perky! You're kidding! Who would do that to a kid?

I was the only Dianne I knew growing up, and only met another (minus the second 'n' when I worked in publishing. Now, my husband's semi-business partner is named Diane, and our financial advisor is, too. Go figure!

I'm suprised those are the popular names there. When my boys (your age) were in school I swear the girls were all named one of the following Lisa, Nicole, Stacy,Tracy, Michelle,or the extremly popular (please someone make it stop ) TAMMY.eeee
Well there was one Buffy LOL named after the little girl on the TV show Family Affair. She hated her name because someone was always telling her "we had a dog named Buffy" LOL

:o) The Lisas and Michelles were about 2 years younger than I, so born in 1966 or 67.

Tammy's another popular one in my age group here. The only Tammy I knew was my friend Susan(!)'s older sister (circa 1962 I think.)

Buffy - nope, don't know a Buffy, but there's a mom at my kids' school named (I kid you not) Bunny. And our neighbours used to have a dog named Gidget.

I'll have to send you some of our good old Canadian squirrels - they'd have had that gone in a flash. I totally agree about pear trees - we had one in our backyard for a few years and finally got rid of it because of all the hornets it attracted and the mushy fruit it would drop all over the place. Of course, ours appeared to be about half the size of yours.

In our family there are boys, boys, and more boys. I live in this house with my 3 guys. It's a testosterone festival. Whenever my son teases me about something "girly" I wish him 3 daughters someday. Triplets named Muffy, Buffy, and Binky. That'll teach 'im
