Hold Out

It's cold today. The wind is blowing from the north, and the green still-on-the-trees leaves I marveled at just a week or so ago have all browned, shriveled and dropped. It won't be long now.

I was upstairs a few minutes ago, looking out the window, watching the sun play off the bare branches. It's mostly just shades of black and white out there now. I like the stark colours of winter; spring is energizing, fall is relaxing, summer's just obnoxious. Winter is honest. Bare bones, no artifice. What you see is exactly what you get, at least above the snow. I like that. Bring it on, I'm ready.

This picture is a tiny little nod to the great art shots Deb Richardson shares every day. Thanks, Deb.

Beautiful pic, Dorothy! I love winter, too. At least, I love it when I'm living in a nice warm house, with central heating and a beautiful open fire...

The pared-down beauty of the landscape in winter is such a treat.

That's a beautiful photo, Dorothy! It reminds me of an ink drawing - all those beautiful graphic lines of the branches against the pale sky.

Cool Picture!! Looks like the empty tree is inviting snow to fly around it soon.
Stay warm,

Great picture - but my eyes see a gold Christmas ball ornament on that tree! I know you like to remind us that Christmas is coming but.....

It's a pear, the last hold out. There's been a squirrel eyeing it for the past few days. I wonder how long it will linger.
