Snow on the Mountains

There was snow on the mountains today. Both the Adirondacks and Green Mountains are white topped now, which means we in the valley will be seeing it soon. The air is chilling too - it was 19º the other morning, 23º today. That didn't stop me from getting laundry out on the clothesline, it just means I took the time to put a pair of socks on first.

And what socks! I bought these a few weeks ago, three "pairs." They are intentionally mismatched, for fun, or (for me anyway) because we tend to get dressed in the dark here in the frozen north, and our socks don't match anyway!

The socks are an annual fundraiser in support of Dragonheart Vermont, a dragonboat team comprised of breast cancer survivors. What strong women these are, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to support them.

Unfortunately, the socks aren't available from their website, and I don't know if more are available this year. I've been showing them off to everyone I see today, and without fail, someone will ask where they can get some. They're sure cozy, and fun, and a great conversation starter.

UPDATE: Found the socks - at SockLady! Buying from this site won't support Dragonheart, but it will get you some cool (warm!) socks.

I like the socks. As for matching, they're close enough. Looks like they were made from the same balls of yarn. Alas, I don't think my simply raiding the unmatched sock basket for a random pair would look anywhere near as snazzy.

Love the mismatched socks! What was it that Deb H called the first snow on the mountains? Termination Dust, I think. Winter's on its way!

Cute socks. Thanks for posting the link. This morning I ordered four pair of the socks for granddaughters. I refuse to buy anything from China this Christmas
