Gardentime

Thursday - I cleared all I planned to, and more! By noon, I could, with cloud-free conscience, do nothing out there for the rest of the week. But I probably will work on it some today. By the time we found ourselves, Daniel and I, working in sunshine, it was time to knock off for the morning. We had a cold drink in the shade and pondered our next project. The front bed? The vegetables? No, Cute Boyfriend decided that what really needed weeding was the dirt pile.

Okay. I moved on from that to trimming the grass around the raised beds and pulling the weeds in the pole bean tent. I noticed that there was one perfect ripe, wonderful cherry tomato. The first! Cute Boyfriend declined, so it was mine. All mine. There is nothing like a tomato warmed by the sun, pulled from the plant and popped into your mouth. Nothing.

Further exploration revealed green beans, LOTS of them (lunch!) and a burgeoning crop of jalapeƱos and bell peppers. The onions and tomatoes better get a move on, there's salsa afoot.

Anyone have a good (home can-able) salsa recipe?

The corn is now taller than me, there are little pumpkins, little cucumbers, little carrots. It's supposed to rain on and off today, maybe I can get to a little quilting too. Maybe?

I have never had a garden so seeing your vegetables growing awes me. I once cut a sweet potato in half and stuck it in water, does that count?

Your garden is awesome. (Oops, I repeated Rian there.) I cannot grow anything. I tried tomatoes one year, and I failed. But luckily my next door neighbor has a fabulous garden.

Tomato is the best off the vine, sun drenched.
