Goals

I have two goals today. One immediate and immediately gratifying, the other not so immediate, but most definitely gratifying.

First - it's cool and damp again today. I actually like this weather, I'd LOVE it if it would stay below 70 when it's this damp, but it won't. Not in July in Vermont; it'll be hot and humid, with a thunderstorm about 3 o'clock. But being damp out there, I don't want to work in the yard. I did yesterday and got eaten by mosquitoes and deerflies. The area I'm clearing threatens to be buggy anyway, why invite them to bite by going out there in the scrub? So I won't. Today I'm going to stay inside and SEW! I am! We're switching the menu around a little and Simon's cooking tonight, Daniel's got a new game on the XBox, Scott's got meetings, and Tori's working, so I can stitch right through until 5 if I want. (Probably not) Chores first (vacuum, mop, throw in some laundry) but then I've got a date with my sewing machine. Yeah!

Second, check out the new ticker. Ugly, huh? I'll fix that when I'm bored and looking for a time waster. Can I lose 16 pounds by Labour Day? It'll be tough, I think, but I'm going to try. My neighbour Nancy has lost 25 pounds on South Beach since the beginning of the year, and she looks great. I struggle with the no carb/low carb thing, but I feel better when I don't eat so much bread. So there's the plan. I've got just about 6 weeks. Fingers crossed, shoes laced, water glass full.

I know this sounds weird..or maybe not since it's coming from me...but make a lettuce sandwich. Use some of the stiff end of the lettuce as the bread, stuff it with whatever, I prefer peanut butter, and slap on a top piece of lettuce. Or roll like a log. Peanut butter doesn't stick to the roof of your mouth if you eat it with lettuce.

Ack. That ticker is definitely in yer face. Hopefully that will work better than my "don't ask (the scale) don't tell" method of weight loss.

South Beach does work and if you switch to whole grain bread and pasta you don't miss the bad carbs as much. I firmly believe the bad carbs do cause the cravings and you really feel better without them. Of course, the Ben & Jerry's still tastes pretty darned good!

I wanna lose about the same amount of weight by then. I have been making better food choices the last few days. Need to get back to running though. Ack.
I forgot to wish you a happy Bastille Day. So hope you had a good one!
