Happy 4th Eve

Here in teenytiny town we do our fireworks on the 3rd, leaving the 4th open for a trip to Bristol to catch a) the outhouse races, and b) their tractor and firetruck parade. It's not *all* tractors and firetrucks, it only seems that way. A few years ago, just about every float had teeangers with supersoakers (a nice respite from the heat, actually) but some people complained it was getting their fancy goin' to town clothes wet, so no more. The outhouse races are fun - local businesses sponsor teams to build a privy on wheels (must have toilet, must have person on toilet) that gets pushed down Main Street in elimination heats until a winner is crowned. I imagine it's more fun for the participants than for those watching, 'cause truly, watching's pretty boring unless there's a spill (heh.) Maybe it's like NASCAR. Anyway, here's a picture from a few years ago; I doubt we'll make it tomorrow. Perhaps we'll make it to the parade, though.

I'll take my camera to the fireworks tonight, and attempt to take some pictures. I love fireworks.
