One of the To Do items I forgot to put on the list yesterday was to get my mom's birthday present in the mail. Her birthday is August 6th, and she'll be 75. Her comment on the momentous occasion? "I have to get my driver's license renewed, but it's good for 5 years. When I'm 80, I guess I'll be old because it's only good for 2." So she's not old yet. I'll bet in 5 years, she'll still not be old, but it'll be something else that affirms it.Unlike me, mom likes a few little dust collectors. Enough to show that she does, in fact, have a nice collection, but not too many. She used to collect teaspoons until "every time anyone went to the bathroom," they picked her up a souvenir teaspoon. So she's declared her teaspoon collection to be complete, thank you very much.
She's always had a few Hummel figurines. For a few past Christmases I cross stitched Hummel pictures (here and here), and I've bought her several figurines as well. This sweet little goat herder 200/0 (dated 1948) will make her smile, I hope. He's on his way later this morning.
