What a week! It rained, hard! every day but yesterday. The ground is saturated, and plants are drowning. There is so much water around the roots that they are suffocating. I worry for my small plot, but farmers are seriously concerned that they won't be able to get their crops off before they're a total loss. Roads and bridges are washing out, people are being evacuated from their homes before they are cut off from the rest of the world by overflowing rivers.
There was a picture on the news the other night of a field of corn with a foot deep river of gravel covering it, left there by a torrent of floodwater.I took the opportunity yesterday to cut some grass, specifically around the raised beds and in the orchard (hee! I have an orchard!)
My cherry tree is suffering the most from this wet, it's losing leaves and looking very sad. I find small comfort in the fact that it's the only tree I planted that has a one year guarantee. I don't want the money, I want the tree! We'll see.I did another hour or so on that for mini Alexis' swap, and know where I'm headed now. No pictures, though, not until it's done and delivered. Kate's opened the sign ups for Another Little Quilt Swap, though available spaces are going fast. Though I have no idea whose name I'll draw, I've started surfing the players' websites and mulling ideas.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to start thinking seriously about Christmas card ideas!
I really like your lists. Kind of illuminates all you do! I hope your rain eases off a little bit...
