Growing up, I'm sure I never knew a single Jackie, Penny, Betsy, Nancy, Sally or Jane. My friends were all Susans and Carolyns with the odd Mary or Lisa or Sharon thrown in. That was there. Here, I can walk into a room and say "Jackie!" or "Penny!" and half the women my age will turn around. I know four Betsys, three Nancys, and a Dick, a Jane and a couple of Sallys.
Is it regional, or cultural. Was Canada in the 1960s really a world away from the USA? It would appear perhaps it was.
