My plan for today, after some basic chores - tidying, dishes, a load or two of laundry - is to sew. Seriously! I know, right? A quilting blogger that actually makes plans to sew! Remarkable. As I was driving around doing not much of anything productive yesterday, I realized I have some deadlines to meet. Scott doesn't know when Todd's baby is due (see the sidebar) so I really ought to get that little project out of the way. Of course, knowing if this was boy baby or girl baby would be helpful, but I'll wing it. Wanda at Exuberant Color showed off a couple of finished things earlier this week, and I told her flat out I am SO stealing her blanket stitched binding. It looks so... intentional! I mean, any of course whenever, however a binding is stitched down, it is intended, but often it looks less than wonderful. That blanket stitch, though, makes me see that effort as a design decision, rather than a get-it-done one, ya know? I'm using it.
So, let's get this show on the road, shall we? Pictures... Saturday. Maybe.

I could use a toothbrush, thank you. Very tidy shelves.
It might be full but, man, is that ever nice and neat...my pantry is hanging its head in shame...
It's only neat because that was my project for the week. Now I know how much of everything I have, and I know I probably won't need to buy chocolate chips again before next Christmas (or plastic wrap, ever)
I don't have quite that much stuff, but we could easily eat for a week or so.
A while back we made a plan to eat out of the pantry and freezer until everything was reduced by quite a bit. We could buy essentials, dairy, eggs, bread (although I had four loaves of homemade bread in the freezer so we ate that) but nothing that we had any of in the pantry. I was suprised how long we could eat frm food we had on hand. Then when it was time to restock I wasa more careful about how many of something I bought - seems to have helped keep the pantry in balance. And when we ran out of something that was not essential - no running to the store for one or two items.
There is pleasure in looking at tidy spaces. That's a very satisfactory pantry.
How funny! I just cleaned out my pantry, organized and ready to go...by the way, do you need a toothbrush??
Hmm - I don't really want any of the contents of the pantry but I'd sure love some of the space - probably a bit hard to arrange, though.
