This Week

Last week

Needlework
finish second arm of Tori's sweater - nope
schedule class on mid arm system - nope

I don't think I spent any time at all this week knitting. So Tori's sweater remains unfinished. And I see no point in scheduling that mid-arm class until I have a quilt top to practice on. So... not much done there. But I did get that little green quilt done in record time - (9 years and) 2 days. The shower was a nice little affair - none of the funny games we all played at our first (young!) baby showers, just good food, lovely conversation and some beautiful gifts for the mother-to-be-again. We made our way to our cars at about 4:30, just as the sun was starting to set, and darn if I didn't back right off the icy driveway into Kathy's ditch. After several failed attempts to pull, push or 4-wheel my way out, we called neighbour George who showed up with his tractor and chains, and I was out in about 1/2 hour. I'll need to pick up something nice for him - he doesn't know me from Moses but jumped right up and came over when Kathy called. That's what neighbours do. I was home just after 6, and dear Tori was just getting supper on the table. I went upstairs to thaw in the shower; the temp outside was about 10ยบ or so and we'd been out there for an hour and a half, none of us really dressed for the weather, except George.

This week, no plans, no (knock wood) drama. I've got groceries to shop for tomorrow. My coupons are clipped and sorted, my lists made. Last week I banked almost $29 from coupons and by shopping specials saved almost $100 more. Awesome! I've begun the pantry tidy that I included on my 9 in '09 list, and I have a good idea what we're well stocked on, what we need, and what we really DON'T need (4 boxes of plastic wrap!?)

Brrr - that was nice of the neighbor to pull you out of the ditch.

Menus are great - and I'm starting to also keep a list of what we save with coupons and also by buying at liquidation stores - cereal - good cereal - is 1.69 a box - that is a huge savings and I think about it whenever I eat cereal. It has been so long since I paid retail for almost anything that it kills me to do so - grumble grumble mummmph.

I should have popped by your place on Sunday when you had Ham & Scalloped Potatoes...Oh, I love that!!!!

Are we on the same wave length - I am in the process of cleaning up my pantry...finished the cabinets above the sink last week - and have two more cabinets to go...

dang, sister! You are one organized mama. My mom made the menus - drew off a calender-style chart and wrote the supper menu on each day, and it was posted on the refrigerator door. No questions about what's for supper!
