It's spring, I'm cleaning.

I've been bit, thankfully just a nibble, not a chomp, but bit nonetheless by the urge to clean. It's spring, the grass is greening, the flowers are sprouting, the birds are singing, and my GOD, my house is filthy! Fortunately, I'm not an all or nothing kind of gal, I can live with a modest level of disgustitude for a remarkable length of time. But when I start, stand back.

Left brained as I am, I have proceeded systematically. Reasonably set goals, spread out over sufficient time to accomplish them. Yesterday was the area that would be the foyer if our Colonial had been built with a proper front door. The stairs are ahead, the living/dining room (that is neither) to the left, the kitchen and family room to the right. This space is kinda/sorta Daniel's spot - it's got a bureau with writing materials on top, and toy/game/lego storage drawers. The area isn't huge, but was messy. And now it's not! I washed the window, vacuumed the screens, cleaned the baseboard register... Ahh. Today's job was the kitchen, floor to ceiling, from the fridge (and the layer of filth on top) around the corner to the far side of the big window. 3 hours. It took 3 hours to clean a space that is no more than 20 square feet. It makes me happy that it's clean, though. I even got off most of the several years old superglue puddle.

Tomorrow? The kitchen continues, window to the far side of the stove. It's about the same distance as today, but without the pile of "I'll deal with this later" that used to be in the corner above. And no window.

Cool system. X square feet per day. I can dig it.

Good work - I did the stove and counters yesterday - should do the dusting tomorrow - I see slob webs hanging in a couple places.
