Tori mentioned to me that she'd seen something I posted the other day. What that means is I can't show any pictures of her quilt in progress until long after it's finished, after she gets it for Christmas. Shame, actually - it's looking pretty cool.

We're finally getting some summer weather this week - we've had plenty of water, now we need some heat to make the plants grow and flower and fruit. We've enjoyed green beans from the garden twice already, and a few small heads of broccoli. There are tomatoes on all the plants - all we need is HEAT. It's coming.

Yesterday here in Teenytinytown we held our 3rd(?) annual French Heritage Day. 2009 marks the 400th anniversary of Samuel deChamplain's discovery of the 6th Great Lake, and French (and French Canadian) heritage and ancestry play a large role in the settling of this area. Our town was actually named by Ethan Allen for the Charles Gravier, the French Compte de Vergennes who helped secure French financial support for the colonists fighting to overthrow the British in the American Revolution. What does that mean here in a little New England Town in the middle of July? Waiters Races, a Lion's Club fundraiser, and strolling musicians on the Green.

Apparently it also means the annual return of our half-naked native re-enactor. (on the right, in the red vest.) Thankfully the weather was little cooler than last year, and he kept his loincloth covered with his wool vest, and his boots go up pretty high... Still no pants, there, though.
