Let's go out to the garden, to find ourselves some lunch

Picture heavy today, sorry. My page is very, very green, huh? Kinda like my garden, in fact! Here's some rain washed tomatoes, just waiting for me to eat them. (I did, right after this pic)

So, when I bought seeds, do you think I was in a hurry? Or maybe distracted? For whatever reason, I have some very weird things growing. These beans, for example. They are supposed to be soccer players - sturdy, low to the ground, but oh, my do they want to play basketball. They're a bush variety, but they are so tall they need a support! Several meals off these already, and many more to come.

The zucchini? Uh, also has ball player aspirations. Softball maybe? I'm curious to see how big they might get.

The Butternut squash isn't. It's ButterCUP. oops, that mistake I'll admit to. All mine. They're cute little squash babies right now though, we'll see how they taste in a few weeks.

In any case, it's taken gladly to the fence, and it's a good thing, too, because the pumpkin is plotting to devour Cleveland ... er, my yard.

Look close at those feathery leafed plants underneath. Carrots? yeah, I'm not expecting much of a crop there. I'll plant some seed in the Corn Disappointment bed.

"why does my honey taste like gherkins?!" You'll have to take my word for it, these cucumber blossoms were raucous with honey bees just before the shutter snapped. This is, I think, the biggest cuke so far, but it'll beef up quickly. The plants are, ahem, not doing so much climbing on the fence because, ahem, they're a bush cucumber. Really? Oh well, as long as it climbs enough to avoid the evil clutches of that pumpkin growing behind it.

Oh look- found the bees! (on a pumpkin blossom)

Yum-can I come to your house for lunch. My little patio garden of herbs hasn't fared so well this year-between the bugs, the blazing heat, and the scary rain it's all a little sad.

Did you change your settings so no pics show up in the reader? Have to click thru now, *sigh*, lol.

I haven't learned how to grow anything here yet...but cactus, that I can do! We have lots of flowering things but I'd love some fresh produce (something we don't get much of!).

Wish I was your neighbor to receive your over abundance!
