As we were walking out the door to get Tori, Daniel looked up into the rain. "It a beeyal day, mama." Beeyal is beautiful and my first thought was "No, no it isn't. It's cool and drizzly and wet and grey. What it is not, is beautiful." What was it about the eyes of a two year old that could see anything beeyal in that?!
Grey puddles on the grey driveway reflected the grey clouds, the grass was a thousand different brilliant greens, the lawn chairs glowed bright white. All the colours were clear and sharp, everything sparkled with drops of rain, even the air sparkled! It WAS beautiful! So today I applied the lesson I mentioned yesterday - I saw with new eyes, and the beeyal day became FAR more than the sum of its cool, drizzly, wet, grey parts.
