Worth $5?

The prettiest thing I saw yesterday at the CVQG show was not a quilt. Don't you just want to sail out there into the haze? Shelburne Farms, where the show was held, is the former home of Electra Havermeyer Webb. It's a beautiful 1400 acre working farm with magnificent buildings, gorgeous woods, great Lake Champlain shoreline. There's an Inn, Ms Webb's former home. I hear it's amazing.

At the show, Tori took most of the quilt pictures, so most of the pictures I have are of ones SHE liked. I wish I had a bigger picture of this one, I like the technique, and I like the effect. The applique at the bottom, up close, is a little too flowery for my taste, but it's not my quilt, right?

This quilt was done by Deb Tucker. The effect is more dramatic in person and I thought it was well placed right in front of the entrance to the show. Until I saw it was an ad. Ms Tucker's pattern was available for $8 or so at a vendor just back 3 steps.

I'm selfish. I like to draw inspiration from quilt exhibits, I like to be awestruck, and inspired and even a little intimdated by the quality and creativity of quilts I pay to see. I like to feel like the money I paid for admission, whatver it was, was the deal of the week. This wasn't it.
