ENOUGH!!!

My daughter came home from a friend's house last night and burst into tears. A boy, a closer friend to their family than ours, was killed yesterday in a car crash. He was hit broadside by an ambulance on its way to another call. My poor dear girl, she has had too much this fall and winter. In October, one of her classmates died in her sleep. 3 weeks later, the teacher in the classroom next to hers died suddenly and unexpectedly. 2 weeks ago, her yearbook advisor's beloved husband collapsed in the driveway. The day before, another classmate died. He had a congenital health issue and was never expected to live this long, but still. And now Raymond. He lived just down the street from us, just down the street from other neighbours of ours, whose toddler grandson was beaten to death in July by his mother's boyfriend of the week.

ENOUGH!!!!
This has to end soon. We have had enough sadness in our tiny town, our hearts are broken in so many pieces - they just start to knit together and they're broken apart again. My poor girl. 12 is hard enough without all this sadness.

Childhood and innocence is fleeting enough without such saddness. My heart is tender for you all. Alexis

oh, dear God. How awful. I often try to justify bad things by knowing there is something to learn from what happened... but I have no words for understanding what your community (and your family) is going through right now. How do you tell a 12-year-old that sometimes things just happen without planting a fear in her heart? Give her lots of hugs and time to talk about it... and know I'm feeling your pain and sending loving thoughts your way.
