You know, it's not going to get better. Fabric, I mean. I have plaid flannels that I bought 6, 7, 8 more? years ago, in anticipation of making a cuddly quilt for me, ahead of our move here to Vermont (5 1/2 years ago!!) And I haven't. What's the hold up? Why am I waiting? I mean, shoot, this stuff is not improving with age. If anything, it's deteriorating, unseen, unused, uncuddled. I think my resolution for this year has to be more than restraint, more than UFO completion, I have to do some serious stashbusting.

A long time ago, the man who was to become my brother-in-law had a bumper sticker slapped across his fridge "He who dies with the most toys wins." Translate to quiltese "She who dies with the biggest stash wins." Why? What good has all that accumulation done? For me, there's certainly not the joy of shopping to factor in. I detest shopping, yes, even for fabric. Know what I want, know where to get it. Go, get, done.

So what's the holdup?
