It's in the works

Today I wandered around Kohl's (geeze I hate shopping) trying to find something for those kids. ANYthing, but it had to be the right thing. Hard assignment. I got some sweet baby things for the littlest guy, but was stumped on the other three until I spied a HUGE Hot Wheels set, marked down 50% that they could all play with together. And bonus! It included 10 cool cars! So that went in the cart. Picked up an enclosure card for some cash, and checked out. *My* little guy and I went over to Applebee's for lunch and while I sat there I got to thinking about the anonymous help this family is going to get this year. The school is giving them a grocery store gift card, the Eagles will send over a food hamper, there will be toys donated by various local businesses, and a request has been sent to the local utilities company to offer some grace on delinquent bills. It's what we do for everyone we know who needs the help of those of us who can offer it. This situation came up suddenly and at the very last minute, and the scramble was admirable.

But as I enjoyed a nice lunch with my own little guy, I wondered about the mother. Her kids will have toys, her pantry will have a little food, her lights and phone will stay on. Will there be a gift for her under the tree? Before we left the mall, I made sure that there will. Wrapped in gold paper with a perfect bow, just like my kids' gifts from Santa always are. She needs a little Christmas too.

And tonight, my angel feels a little bit happier about that.

Thanks! I'll get them wrapped and ready for delivery tomorrow (and will smile all day, I suspect.) Geeze, I hope she's got pierced ears. ;o)

If she doesn't, your gift would be worth getting them pierced for! You certainly have been a Christmas Angel for a lot of people this year Dorothy -- you're an inspiration!
