Aye

She's a bonnie lass ...
or she will be, I hope. Here's pics of the first 25 of my tartan bowties. I'm still leaning toward the circles layout, to tie in my niece's love of soccer as well as highland dancing. The tartan seems more prominent than it does in the other layout. The "dirty soccer ball" effect I'm aiming for with the scrappy backgrounds will be easier to balance once I get more blocks in there, but until then, here it is. It's coming out just the way I'd hoped. I'll share more pictures when I have more blocks.

Blocks are looking very cool...I like the arrangement in the first picture much better then the second one...first one has a glow the second one just doesn't have...

Thanks! That first one is the way I've got it in my head, but my daughter suggested the straight layout - it does nothing for me. Daniel, who's red hammer and green shirt tail you can see in the first picture, thought they looked best in a big messy pile he could roll in. Thinks he's a cat, I guess. ;o)

Go for the soccer balls, definitely

I like the round arrangement--goes with your theme the best and is more visually interesting.

Thanks everyone! It's always exciting when the quilt on the floor matches the one in my head. ;o) Amy, the blocks are made using my cheater-cheater punkin' eater method (scroll down to Jan 15.) Assemble 4 patch, applique the tartan "knot" on top.
