This is just gross! This is VERMONT! ferepetesake. You know? Crisp walks in the fallen leaves? Cozy quilts on old iron bedframes inside snowy cabins? The smell of woodsmoke and old books?
Notice that heat index? 119!? It's like a punch in the face when you walk out an air conditioned store. A big fat humid bitchslap. Ugh.
But, did that stop me from working on my strings? Of course not! I've pieced an extra 8, I assembled 4 more 4-block chunks, and lordy it's pretty. :o) I've now got enough of a "quilt" to cover the bottom of the bed. I guess instead of a smaller bed, I could get a shorter husband...
Amy has a cute new button on her site. I completely and totally agree and shall do my best to resist for another month. Of course today, the FIRST day of the month, I almost blew it. I had to take Tori to the ortho to get a loose bracket reattached and drove past the only two local LQSs and Ben Franklin. I promised someone looking for a specific Maywood Beautiful Background that I'd check, and I did. No one had it, but Knits and Bolts did have a big case full of seriously reduced fabrics, a number of which would have made a great back for my strings. They're on sale 'til they're gone, though and as long as I don't wait toooo long, there should still be something other than Debbie Mumm Seed Packets left to choose from. I walked out of the store with nothing more than a spool of thread. I did lust after some Cherry Hill hand dyed lace-weight merino, though. Yummy.

your' right...that is a side of Vermont I never imagined.
Are you using red for the back of your string quilt? [i agree the mumm is scumm]
Well...our heat wave of last week finally got there, eh? Just remember us dearly...no A/C for many Northern Californians (including US!).
Of course, just when I need to go to Michigan for the freaking weekend, OMG, it's a cruel joke.
Can't wait to see another pic in progress, I'm envious of your drive.
Oh, I'm sorry, did I give the impression this was new? It's been hot humid gross for the past 10 days and will continue so for a few more. I'm guessing Michigan will see relief by Thursday, we're due Friday. I think.
Well...I can relate to the heat...we had more than 20 days in a row at 100 plus...with no AC..its been more humid here than I can remember in a long time - and I came down with what we think was a norovirus - extreamely icky in the heat - I was convinced I was dying...so we finally caved and bought one of those so called 'portable' AC units...
G went to the store to fetch one home - they were out...sold the last floor model 15 minutes before he got there...they said they were getting a shipment in the next day - so we went back the next day - they had gotten several hundred and they were mostly gone by the time the store closed...and I have never seen such pushing, shoving and general rudeness with shopping carts before.. Almost every cart going out of the store had a portable AC unit in it...
The only place that had space and a window close enough was the master bathroom...which has caused us to become gymnists using the facilities...oh well...at least we have cold air for sleeping! And...it finally cooled down a bit though they said it would only be 84 today but my thermometer registered 89...and its going to be over 90 tomorrow...not much of a break (but I will take what I can get!)
Cold showers are our friends ;-)
Ya think this weather is fun? We had a double header softball game in Central Park tonight.
We were so wiped out after three hours of ball in this heat and humidity, we couldn't even drink much beer afterward. UFF!
What was really fun about the heat was coming home from doing a full hour of cardio at the gym soaked thru and then no power for 3 hours.Yeah I almost headed back to the car's AC but managed to rough it out.Summers were like this as a kid and we had no AC, brought back memories...
