Done!

This is the scarf, done, for my Tante Kitty. I made one for mom earlier this year, and when she was in Holland in June, she told her sister about it. Well, told her, and then offered to have me make one for her too. Any colour she liked! Aye!! I used a really nice kid merino / silk yarn for my mom's, but it wasn't available locally in green. NOTHING was available locally in green laceweight wool. Knowing I was looking, the owner of the local yarn/quilt shop showed me this lover-ly Cherry Tree Hill artisan laceweight when I was in just after Thanksgiving. Woo! Pricey, but I sucked it up, bought it and some bamboo needles (Clover Takumi size 4.5mm) and the rest, after a few false starts, is history.

When I talked to mom last night I offered to send it to her first, then have her send it on to Kitty, but she mumbled something about paying postage twice, so I'll just send it straight to Holland myself. I'm sure she'll like it, I know I sure do!

I have enough of the skein left to knit myself something too - I'm thinking that instead of yet another Branching Out scarf, I'll see what Leaf Panel (from the 365 Knitting Stitches perpetual calendar - January 30) looks like on big needles and skinny yarn. I'll let you know.

It is beautiful. Now I really need to step up my learning how to knit. Do you have fun and relax and listen to your ipod while knitting? I am still at the get a crick in my neck stage of learning how to knit.

Thanks, everyone! Rian, send me 400 yards of lace weight wool in any colour you like, and sure, I'll make you one. The scarf takes 200 yards, I'll the rest as my fee. ;o)

Jules, I listen to the iPod only when I'm doing mindless knitting - this scarf has so many increase/decrease things that I have to pay total attention.

And teri, I'm sure my mom *would* love it, but she's already got hers. This one's for her sister. Have you done anything with the laceweight you bought this summer? Try bamboo needles, they don't slide as much as aluminum.
