Friday Flashback
When I was 8, maybe 9, I discovered that the best company, once in a while, was no company at all. Most Sunday afternoons from April through October or beyond, I would get home from church, pack a lunch, grab a book, and disappear until suppertime. My usual destination was the creek that ran behind our old house in Boston, Ontario. (The creek runs back by those trees, and there was no dirt bike trail when we lived in that old house.) I would park myself beneath a tree or on a big rock depending on the weather, and enjoy the solitude. The few times my brothers found me, they just left me to my own "fun." They thought I was weird, I though they were boorish.
I still crave time alone, with a thermos of coffee and a brand new book. I don't get it much, but when I do, oh, I enjoy every second of it. Disappearing from lunch until supper on a Sunday afternoon really isn't practical anymore, but an hour? I can do that. Perhaps this weekend, I'll make it happen.

I once holed up in my room and fell asleep in bed reading. My Mom called the police because she couldn't find me, guess I was out like a light. I still manage about a book every other week, I just cannot get enough!
I love your crazy quilt, you're amazing.
Wow, what a lovely thing that would be - to disappear with a book (and coffee too, what the heck, might as well dream big). It's not the time to read, I do get a bit even these days, but the luxury of knowing you won't be interrupted - who gets that?
