Today was the annual Open House at Agway, the local(ish) feed store / garden center place. They offered propane tank fills for $12 and give away free hot dogs and chocolate milk from 10 until 2. Cheap gas and free hot dogs? I'm there!
The weather has been glorious, so once the Saturday chores were done (cleaning, garbage, recycling) we grabbed the empty propane canister, piled into the truck and headed to Middlebury. We did cruise by to see if the A&W was open yet. Nope. Did a few other things, then wandered through the garden center, imagining the summer to come. My imaginings didn't include mosquitoes and high humidity but it's my dream and I'll paint it in any shade of rose I like.
While I lusted after the bedding plants and hanging baskets I resisted. I don't have a garden in place yet, and even if I did, it's APRIL ferpetesake. We still have at least a month until it'll be mostly safe to plant outside. A month to build some raised beds (I bought the Gardener's Supply corners), a month to decide what will go where and how many of each I'll need. And a month to be sure Jack Frost is well and truly gone for a few months.
MY friend Laura called earlier to ask if she could borrow my rototiller (yes, mine) and offered garden soil or mulch at cost from her weekend job at a garden center. Uh, yeah! This thrills me considerably, and I said I'd be more than happy to take advantage of her, I mean her offer.

It sounds like a glorious, happy day. I'm tickled to death for you. Don't suppose I should mention that my corn is already up, though ...
