When I was very young, I wanted to be a nurse. Starched white dress, white hose, sensible white shoes, crisp white nurse's cap, big sharp needle. As a young adult, I was told that was hysterical, since I had no compassion. I think isn't exactly true - I'm plenty compassionate, but have absolutely no patience for stupid people. ;o)
So I didn't become a nurse. Instead I've been:
a strawberry, tomato & cucumber picker,
a babysitter,
a camp councillor,
a student
a pizza cook,
coffee slinger,
receptionist (who became...),
an office manager,
a software documentation writer,
a student (again),
a mother,
a condominium property manager,
a mother again,
an assistant brownie leader,
an ex-PAT (without, for a time, a green card),
a kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade classroom volunteer,
a library volunteer,
a PTO member,
a mother, yet again,
a preschool volunteer.
Daniel starts kindergarten in September. 4 1/2 full days a week. I've started toying with the idea of looking through the job listings. But I dunno, maybe it's time to add student back into the mix.

Whatever you decide I know you will do amazingly well at it!
You're reminding me of something my step-grandmother once said:
"I'm a has-been. I has been a lot of things."
So, it seems, have you.
I'm a little startled at the no compassion comment. My impression, albeit from a distance of hundreds of miles away, is that you're compassionate but pragmatic.
ahem. Did you forget the most obvious? JOURNALIST!!!
