This week flew by! Wowzers. I realized Friday that this coming Friday is Hallowe'en. Yikes! Daniel wants to be a puppy, easy enough, but I needed fleece. I picked some up on the way home from Costco Friday afternoon, and cut everything out yesterday. Tori decided she'd also like a costume, a dragon, but only the head. There's a dance Friday and she'll wear her dragon head with jeans and a t-shirt. And sweat profusely, no doubt. This thing is warm. Cute Boyfriend is modelling it; he informed me dragons don't eat cheese, so they don't say cheese. They growl. And they don't stand still very well, either. I made hers first to make sure that the same sized head would fit Daniel, and whew! It will. Needs a velcro button, but that's it. I'll post a puppy pic next week.

The centre of Louise's quilt (the Hunter's Star) is done, but I still need to get the borders on. I didn't have enough yardage to cut the borders long enough to not need cornerstones, so I figure I'll do four 8 point stars in the green print and the sand "solid" and use those. Failing that, I'll use a solid chuck of the green and call it a design decision.

It's Scott's birthday today - he doesn't want a cake, but I think I'll make some cupcakes anyway - the kids will eat them.

This week - the ant act continues. Well, in the afternoons, anyway. That long-ish term sub possibility at the Elementary School has turned into reality - I'm a Lunch Lady! Oh, the glamour! I start at 7:30, I'm home by 2, and I get to spend the 6 hours in between with some very fun people. It goes fast, and a paycheck? I haven't had a paycheck since Simon was a very little guy. I think the possibility exist for this job to continue permanently, but I think that one of the other girls who's working on a part-time basis could really use the full time job and the associated insurance benefits (her husband is self employed, and they have a couple of small kids) so why wouldn't I give her the first crack at the job? I can still sub elsewhere in the school a couple of days a week if I want just for a little extra cash, and she'll be able to provide her family with a little extra security. We all win! But that decision won't be made for a month or so, and all sorts of things can change in a much, right? We'll see.

Awesome dragon head! Your design?

Sounds like "spreading the wealth around" to me.
Have fun.

Tanya, thanks! No, noy my design, it's a... McCalls (I think) pattern. When I buy kid costume patterns I've always looked for the jumpsuit/hood combo. The hood can then be made into anything, and the jumpsuit can be repurposed - dog suit becomes bear suit becomes kitty suit just by adding a different head.

And Christine, yeah, I guess it does sound a little un-capitalist, huh? Must be the "not from here" part of me.

Clever! BTW, I've been enjoying your Monday posts. (Maybe "enjoying" isn't the right word. Appreciating? Mulling over?)
