On my travels this week I've been thinking about my non-resolution plans, and think that instead, I'll still do the word (comity) but also make a list. Living in the left side of my head as I do, I loooooves me a list, and crossing things off that list? OMG! Thrilling! Well, satisfying, anyway.
So I've been trying to work up an "Accomplish in 2009" list. I think I'll add it to my sidebar so you can share in my accountability.
9 in '09
1. Finish a quilt a month. Little, big, started, from scratch - don't matter. One quilt, every month.
2. Begin the process to acquire US citizenship. There, it's out there. Scary stuff.

3. Learn to knit continental(ly). I've developed some elbow pain (from the kitchen work, I suspect) and I need to reduce the motion when I knit.
4. finish clearing the back yard. It's close. But what to do about the stumps?
5. Organize the pantry. Stacking bars of white chocolate on top of the stewed tomatoes and Town House crackers just isn't cutting it, efficiency-wise. Ideally, the organization will spread to the whole basement, but I'm a realist. Maybe next year.

6. Schedule timely service appointments for the vehicles. It doesn't snow in June, the snow tires can come off earlier than that.
7. Make another Hummel cross stitch for mom for next Christmas
8. Save an extra $1000
9.

9. Go somewhere by train.

I really like your list... especially finishing a quilt a month...I'm thinking I should do that - it is doable.
Anything this New Hampshireite can do to help you with in getting on with the process for citizenship - I'll be glad to help...
Are tiy sure we don't live in the same house with the same pantry!!!!
that should read: "Are you sure"
Duh...must be typing too much today...
Love the lists - looks like an adventerous year ahead - away we go!
Dorothy: You shouldn't have too much trouble learning the continental method of knitting. I "learned" to knit about 40 years ago from my mother, but never could really get the hang of it. Mom passed away in Aug 07 and I have found "tons" of yarn. I decided that I needed to learn to knit. Got one of those books that has both methods "Learn to knit in 10, 20, 30 minutes a day" or similar. Has both English and Continental methods. Lessons have you do both, I found the continental method much to my liking, mostly because the yarn is held in the left hand, much as it is when crocheting. I even made my first baby blanket this summer and donated it to a local agency. Any instructions that are unclear.... there is always a youtube video to be found. lol
Pantry organization... a worthy project that is like laundry.... never lasts. lol

Great goals! Hope everyone is back in one piece and goes back to school soon!
These are great goals. I like the mix of accomplishments and fun.
I like your list, as if my approval mattered :)
I know the answer to #4 -- you hire a guy to remove the stumps! (I'd offer my dad, but the travel expenses would be prohibitive!)
I'm with you on #3, as you know... I watched this Craftsanity video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuRLFl36tDY) yesterday that showed different ways to hold and tension the yarn. There's been some discussion on Ravelry, lately, too, about knitting English but "flicking" the yarn around, rather than dropping the right needle to move the yarn. It's supposed to be much more efficient, but I haven't done any personal research yet.
Anyway: Happy 2009!
