Now, and Forever

I pulled out the spring 10" squares I'm going to use for the Bento Box test, intending to start cutting strips. I'd already stuck them inside one of the cool project boxes I snagged at Target, and as I reached for it, I was distracted by the box underneath - the box with Forever inside.

Remember Forever? It's my ongoing leader/ender project. 1 1/2" squares sewn together randomly, the only requirement being no two alike together. There are plenty of repeats in this, it's not a true postage stamp quilt. I cut strips and standard sized pieces from leftovers of other projects, and from the leftovers of that, I cut 1 1/2" squares. Leftovers from that get thrown out. I'm nuts, not crazy.

So this is what Forever's looking like right now - there are four 64 patch blocks, thirteen 16 patch blocks, a smallish stack of trimmed 4 patches, a larger pile of untrimmed ones, plus a zipper bag of 2 patch pairs, and a Glad® brand leftovers box of little individual squares. It progresses, slowly, and may well become a behemoth without me realizing it. Wait and see, I guess, right? It makes me happy to look at it, and gratified to know that the fridge isn't the only place things are growing, unseen and untended.

I have a project that looks a lot like that except it is from 2.5" squares. I don't know where mine is going to end up either!
