My heart's just not in this right now

blah, blah, nothing to say... you've heard it here before. I'm really uninspired to do anything with this blog right now except check in to take care of the cobwebs once in a while. Is my life really this dull? Well, I don't think so, but no one wants to hear about how much grass I cut, or how many weeds I pulled, or whether it's raining or blistering hot. So... once a week to check in. That's all I'll commit to until... whenever.

Last Week

Needlework
-Keep working on Tori's Bento quilt when she's not around
-layer
and quilt RWB ufo I found in the basement

Other
Tuesday - Simon Orthodontist
Friday to Sunday - Vermont Quilt Festival

The bbq turkey that was on the menu for this past weekend got put off until next - when I planned that, I forgot yesterday was Father'd day. Scott's not a big turkey fan, so I picked up a Porterhouse (for him) some NY strips (for the rest of us) and russett potatoes instead - a man's meal. The turkey'll keep another week at the bottom of the freezer.

Saturday I took off by myself (rare!) for an afternoon at the Vermont Quilt Festival. I've got a serious case of jade here, I think - there was nothing in the exhibition hall that knocked my socks off. Everything seemed to be "from a pattern by..." Really people? That's the best you've got? I know that many, many people are uncomfortable working without a pattern. Great! But for a big show, for a contest, show me something original. I don't want to see the same quilt three times interpreted three different colorways, no matter how striking the pattern. So I took pictures of the quilts I did like, and when it came time for Viewer's Choice, I eliminated anything "from the pattern by..." Crotchety, huh?

I don't usually go for pictoral quilts, but this one caught my attention and got my vote.

What *did* turn my crank was the exhibit of antique quilts. "Hurray for the Red White and Green" was the name of this show of old quilts. They were worth the price of admission. And I picked up some black prints and a piece of an antique kimono to include in Tori's quilt. :o)

And else did I do this week? Cut grass, pulled weeds, wondered when summer's going to get here... blah, blah, blah. See ya next time.

I'm SO where you are! I've been there for awhile, and just can't seem to shake it. I'll hang in as well, and will pick up the baton whenever.

I am sorry to hear the quilt show was boring.

I always admire your sense of industry. Regardless of where your heart is, you are a remarkably efficient, productive person.

It must be the warmer weather, we just need to be outside a little bit! We are going to be in your neck of the woods in October...do you have tips about where to go to see your beautiful autumn colors?
