Next?

That Next 4 list needs some attention. Tori's quilt wasn't even on it, and the top's done. I can't be motivated by the list if that list is hopelessly out of date, now, can I?

So... #1. Tori's fourth grade teacher has a special place in the heart of many of her former students. She's a wonderful, kind, inspiring teacher who makes kids want to learn, want to achieve, want to succeed. She has MS. I'd say she suffers with it, but truthfully, she doesn't appear to let her disease have that kind of control over her. She is challenged by it, probably more than any of us realize, but she has it, IT does not have her. Marilyn used to make quilts, and she once admitted to me that one of her regrets was that the ability to sew left her before her grandchildren arrived, and so the quilts she had dreamed of making for them could never be.
A few weeks ago, Marilyn gave me a Rubbermaid tote full of quilting fabric, trusting it would find a good home with me. It will, though only temporarily. You see, Marilyn has two grandchildren now, and I have the fabric Marilyn can no longer use. Heh. See where this is going? I'll spend my home work time this afternoon painting a pine bench and contemplating quilt patterns. These two kids live a couple days' drive from Grandma's house - wouldn't a pair of cuddle sized quilts that fold up into their own pillow be a great use for Marilyn fabric collection? I think so.

#2 - Tori's Bento top is done, and I've decided it's going away to be quilted. The backing will be here this week, and I'll get it washed and pressed and sent off to the long-arm lady. When it gets back, I'll get the binding on and be done.

#3 - Really, the string quilt is a floater. I'm still waiting to hear back about the mid-arm class, and this will be my practice piece. Quilted, bound, done whenever.

#4 - I just spoke with Lisa, the Afterschool Enrichment coordinator, and she says response for the Holiday Craft Fair has been a little weak. I've re4served a table, now I need things to fill it up with. Aprons, Funky Chicken pincushions, crayon rolls, post cards... let's see what we can come up with. These will get shared on Thursdays, as things get finished.
