It's raining!

At last! Whoever it was that threatened to install a dome over our tiny town last winter after one too many snow dumps finally got around to removing it. Towns around here have had afternoon showers all week, we've been missed repeatedly.

When we lived in Boston, much of our non-drinking water came from a cistern that was fed, in part, by rain captured by eaves troughs (aka gutters) on the house. As kids, we often skipped the *capture* step and threw on swimsuits to shower in the rain that poured off the garage roof - soap, shampoo, the whole shebang. There is no conditioner in the world that softens your hair like rain water.

I wonder what the neighbours would think if I ducked out in the next downpour...

My adult daughters all still talk about showering in the rain, making snow cakes with sprinkles and candy sugar, fire flies in jars, etc. Hope they remember those memories for their own children (someday!).

I adore a good rain. I'm quite envious of you.
