Tuesday afternoon we picked strawberries. Not here, sadly, I didn't get many this year which means I can add a strawberry patch overhaul to my ToDo list. yeah. The berries weren't even that plentiful at the farm we went to, it's the end of the season, but we managed to pick about a flat and a half (8 quarts maybe?) and they were delicious.
Yesterday, we made jam. 27 1/2 half pint jars. And oooh, baby it's good. It's been smeared on croissants, toast, peanut butter sandwiches... yum. There were enough berries left for 3 quart bags in the freezer, and a bowl of sliced, sugar-macerated deliciousness to enjoy with angel food cake for tonight's Red and White dessert. (note to self - Whipped Cream)
