Oops, but it's okay.

So, given my recent experiences with an inability to reliably count past 10 without taking off my socks, and my try, try, try again pineapples for Danielle's quilt I got "smart" with this latest quilt and created a pattern. Snail's Trail blocks, to get them spinning right need to be made in two different configurations, right? Not all exactly the same, right? And it's possible make them without foundation piecing and have them turn out the right size as long as you cut, sew, and press carefully, right? Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh, notsomuch. On both counts.
The block are all finishing at exactly 13 1/2 inches. I can live with that (though they should be 12 1/2) But the spinning's not working. I thought it was because I should have made all the blocks the same, but looking closer, I'm still not sure. I thought I was, but now I see that exactly half of these blocks are made wrong, right at the center. Do you see it?

So now the question is, do I take these 21 blocks and pick out the centers and fix them, or leave it and own that mistake as a "design element." Maybe I'll fake it with a few and see if the fix fixes the other potential issue. Or maybe, since I like the way it looks, actually, I'll just cover my ears and ignore anyone who calls it a mistake. (Right now I'm leaning that way, but we'll see how long it is until Left Brain shows up with her hands on hips and insists I do it RIGHT.

I think it's fine -- kind of random and windblown. Precision is overrated at times, especially in art!

If you don't point it out, most people won't notice. Windblown is a good word for it. :)

I kind of like the randomness. Pffft to the left side.

If you like it then it's a winner! I think it's lovely-I love the colors!
