I spent the majority of today outside, didn't really get in until 4-ish, when the skies opened (only to find we had no water, sigh, the irony!) A water line broke and even though it didn't serve this part of town we were left with very low pressure so they could fix it. Took all afternoon! When I wandered over at 7, there was a small crowd watching them backfill the hole so I guess we're in business. Good thing too, I need a shower!

The garden, as I said, is in. As I thought would be a GREAT idea last year, I planted the hot peppers in the flower bed along the walk to the front door. I'm rethinking that plan, though the slugs think it was excellent. ugh. Seriously. Perhaps tomorrow I'll wander down to the thrift store and see if they have any copper cookie cutters. How cute would that be, around the base of every plant? And the slugs can't cross 'em! Failing that, I'll hunt down some Sluggo or Escargo. Why do they have to have such cute names? They're POISON!

I spent some quality time with the seam ripper this week, and a little with the sewing machine and have 28 of the 42 blocks for Simon's quilt correctly done, or as correctly done as they're going to get. I'm going to strive to get the last 14 done this week too. We'll see.

The summer band concerts kick off this week in the park. Yay! That means strawberries and ice cream too. I can't wait and the weather's supposed to cooperate as well! For a change.

Simon's quilt is really great looking I love that pattern.
The #$%^%$#@ slugs ate all my dahlias...grrrrr. It would help if it stopped raining every day. We're growing nothing but mold around here

copper cookie cutters is an excellent idea! even copper bowls with holes punched through, and much better than poison!
